Apple Triumphs Over Samsung

After a long battle against patent rights, Apple has been awarded more a billion dollars worth of damages in an epic battle of smart phone manufacturers. The South Korean Company has been facing charges and accusations of copying some of Apples product/patents such as the IPhone and IPad. It has been a grueling 3 weeks of trial not only for the two companies but for the juries as well. To be able to arrive to a absolute decision, the jury has to go over 20 page document and examine who copied who.

It is has been very obvious that Apple and Samsung are playing cat and mouse in the smartphone arena. Releasing phone after phone which lead to Apple suing Samsung. After the verdict was given, Samsung released the following statement:

Today's verdict should not be viewed as a win for Apple, but as a loss for the American consumer. It will lead to fewer choices, less innovation, and potentially higher prices. It is unfortunate that patent law can be manipulated to give one company a monopoly over rectangles with rounded corners, or technology that is being improved every day by Samsung and other companies. Consumers have the right to choices, and they know what they are buying when they purchase Samsung products. This is not the final word in this case or in battles being waged in courts and tribunals around the world, some of which have already rejected many of Apple's claims. Samsung will continue to innovate and offer choices for the consumer.

The last time I heard a story like this, I mean messing with an apple was when Eve bit the apple. Had Samsung been able to read the Bible, they would have known the consequences of .. err, biting an Apple.
