Mind Fucked

There's this TV series that keeps on surprising me to the point that I am being mind fucked every now and then. An amazing plot, an amazing story plus amazing acting, ugh!

I know everyone's talking about Breaking Bad, I haven't seen it yet and I intend to. Until then, this is without a doubt, one of the best series out there.

Homeland is not your typical lost son/daughter story, or that cringe inducing search for true love plot, even far from that finding your true self and celebrating it types of series. Homeland tackles conspiracy, deception, war and mind games.

Based on the novel "Prisoners of War", Homeland follows the story of Carrie Mathinson, a bipolar CIA case officer, played (there was a sudden pause here as I scramble for adjective that will perfectly describe how the character was played, I am so lost for words) by Claire Danes, as she tries to uncover a terrorist plot against the United States of America. One of her informants told her about an America soldier who was turned into a terrorist headed by Abu Nazir. This was followed by the discovery of Sgt. Nicholas Brody, who was thought to be dead for 8 years. Brody, played by Damian Lewis, immediately became an American hero after being rescued. Carrie then suspected that it was Sgt. Nicholas Brody, whom her informant was talking about. The series then turned into a cat and mouse as Carrie tries so hard to prove her claim. Other notable characters are Saul Berenson, CIA's Middle East Division chief played by Mandy Patinkin and Jessica Brody, Sgt. Brody's wife played by Morena Baccarin.

I'm in constant state of "Oh", "Shit" and "What the fuck?" whenever I'm watching. Huge part of it is how the actors portray the characters, especially Claire Danes. Carrie Mathinson and Sgt. Nicholas Brody are both award winning characters, winning mot just once, nor twice. The show itself won twice for Best Television Series, proving what a great show it is.

Saul Berenson getting angry. Find out why.
Morean Baccarin playing Jessica Brody. Why was she crying?
Why can't we make something like this? How many lost sons and daughters have we found and how many true love have won? Yet we kept on doing the same plot, abusing the same story, raping and murdering that age old not to mention over the top cliched storyline? And don't get me started with those CGI's and poor special effects. Yeah, you guessed it right, I hate our soap operas and telenovelas. Not all of them, but some.

Homeland is now on its third season and I am still hooked! I still get those "What the fuck?" moments, and mind you, not a single child has been given to the wrong parents. Sometimes I think Carrie Mathinson is my inspiration with my manic attacks, convincing me further that I am bipolar.

Anyways, if you are looking for break from our awesome soap operas and telenovelas, and you are into smart, psychological and thought inducing TV series, I highly recommend Homeland.
